Ankeny Dollars for Scholars Attends Training Conference at DMACC

  • December 13, 2011

Ankeny Dollars for Scholars recently joined 90 volunteers from 37 chapters attending the 2011 Iowa Dollars for Scholars ChapterNet Training Conference held at Des Moines Area Community College, Ankeny. This conference provided hands-on, expert-led training on ChapterNet, a new technology platform launched by Scholarship America, the parent organization to Dollars for Scholars.  Ten ChapterNet Technology Conferences were held across the country.

ChapterNet is designed to tie together chapter, state, regional, and national information in order to create a more efficient and effective chapter. ChapterNet allows a website to be customized for specific needs and creates an online, automated scholarship application and matching process. Chapter administrative tools offer assistance in scholarship management, student tracking, and the ability to communicate easily with donors and volunteers.

By attending the conference, Ankeny Dollars for Scholars will soon establish its chapter's website and online scholarship applications. The implementation of ChapterNet will allow Ankeny Dollars for Scholars to better serve our students, volunteers, and the goals of the organization.
The Ankeny Dollars for Scholars board members who attended were Kathy Weatherwax, Kerry Walter-Ashby, Dan Buda, Lori Quinlin, Sally Bowden and Kevin Koester.

Scholarship America is a national education service organization that mobilizes support for students getting into and graduating from college. Scholarship America has distributed more than $2.7 billion in scholarship assistance to more than 1.8 million students over the last 50 years. Scholarship America's programs, which include Dollars for Scholars, help fund both entry-level and multi-year scholarships, as well as emergency financial grants.
