Megan VerHelst, of Ankeny, is the daughter of Don and Monica VerHelst of Nora Springs, Iowa. She is a 2003 graduate of Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School and a 2007 graduate of University of Iowa. She is employed by Patch.com.

Benjamin Byrd, of Ankeny, is the son of Emmanuel and Josie Byrd, of Algona, Iowa. He attended Mason City High School and is currently enrolled at Des Moines Area Community College.

The couple will be married at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2012, at P.M. Park in Clear Lake, Iowa. A dinner and reception will be held on-site immediately following the ceremony.
