Ankeny City Council to Make Mayoral Appointment on Monday
A council meeting will be held on Dec. 10 to review and appoint one of seven applicants for the role of Ankeny mayor.
By Monday, Ankeny residents will know the identity of their next mayor.
The Ankeny City Council is slated to review and appoint one of several mayoral candidates at a special meeting on Dec. 10. The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
Seven candidates have filed to fill the seat of Ankeny Mayor Steven Van Oort, who will officially vacate the position at noon today. The vacancy is the result Van Oort’s election to the Polk County Board of Supervisors in last month’s election.
The seven candidates are Andrew Boscaljon, Dennis Richard Ellars, Peter Hong, Gary Lorenz, Michael Sibert, James Stordahl and Jeff Wright.

We already know who it is going to be, and I am willing to bet no matter who it is, there will be a special election...and IMHO there should be.
