Ankeny's Kirkendall Public Library will officially kick off its 2012 summer reading program tomorrow.
This year's theme is "Dream Big — READ!". The goal of the program, according to a city-issued press release, is to encourage reading throughout the summer months so kids will retain their reading skills.
This summer, everyone from infants to adults can participate in the summer reading program.
Reading logs will be available for pickup at Kirkendall starting Friday, June 1. Readers have until Friday, July 27 to claim their prizes.
Participants also will have a chance to take part in special activities, programs and presentations throughout the summer. Space is limited for these programs so make sure to sign up early. A complete list of programs can be found here.
