Ankeny's Natural Health Chiropractic is a 'Dream Come True' for Owner
Introducing our inaugural Ankeny Business of the Week: Natural Health Chiropractic and Acupuncture.
Ever wonder about the businesses in our community? What's the story behind them? What exactly do they do?
To help you better know your Ankeny business community, Ankeny Patch is kicking off a new weekely feature. Each week we're going to highlight one local business to allow community residents to become better acquainted with the business owners, how the business started and what exactly they offer.
Today, meet Dr. Jennifer Knobbe, the owner of Natural Health Chiropractic and Acupuncture. Natural Health, located at 2525 N. Ankeny Blvd., has been in business since April 2012.
It's open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m; and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ankeny Patch: Tell us about your business. What do you specialize in?
Dr. Jennifer: Natural Health is an office that focuses on the health of the whole family. We believe that no one should live with pain. We also believe everyone should get their spine checked from the time they're a few days old to even the oldest of grandparents.
One of my passions is treating women and children. I've taken many extra classes to study how to better treatment women who are pregnant and kids. I also specialize in acupuncture, both with needles and needleless.
What inspired you to start this business?
I've wanted to be a chiropractor since a sixth grade project that asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I always knew I wanted to help people but I hate blood and needles. So I followed a family friend who also was a chiropractor and saw how people would come into the office in pain and leave with big smiles on their faces. Every since that day I was inspired.
Years later, I studied in London for six months under another chiropractor and I knew for sure that's what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. My parents own their own business and I loved the thought of being my own boss. I always knew I wanted to open up my own office as well. I feel so blessed that my dream has come true.
So why Ankeny?
I have always loved Ankeny! Having cousins that live here and visiting them always got me excited. My husband moved here about three years ago and after we got married, I knew I wanted to call Ankeny my home, not only for me but my kids (when I have them), but also my office. Ankeny is such a family-fun atmosphere that I don't know why people wouldn't want to grow old here.
What makes your business unique so it stands out above others?
I feel our office is unique in the way we personally care for each and every patient. I feel that we stand out above others because I studied acupuncture in China and am able to use that knowledge each day. I never stop studying and learning how I can better help and serve my patients.
I also can't forget about my assistant, Ashley. She is a really huge part of the office and brings great energy to it.
What do you enjoy most about getting out of bed and doing this everyday?
I love that I get to go to my dream everyday! I don't call it work or a vocation – I call it my vacation! Choose a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life.
I enjoy all my patients and being able to help them is such an honor to me. I can't wait to get out of bed in the morning so I can treat all the beautiful people that walk through my door.
Anything else you'd like to add?
It truly is an honor to be able to treat and help so many amazing people. I feel I am blessed more and more each day.
