ENCORE: Ankeny, Who's Your Favorite Teacher?
Patch wants to give a shout out to all the great teachers out there who are changing kids' lives. Help us tell the story of great education in Ankeny.
Editor's Note: We know life can get crazy, so here's a story we ran last week because we definitely think it's worth a second look.
We all have a favorite, a teacher who changed our lives with a word of encouragement or a kind word.
For me, it was Mr. Wilson, who struggled in vain to help me grasp calculus, going over and over the lesson so I could eke out a passing grade. He encouraged me to pursue a degree in English and journalism at Northwest Missouri State University.
You know the rest of the story.
What’s yours? How did a teacher change your life?
May 8 (that's today) is National Teacher Day. We want to celebrate the teachers in your life. Here’s your part:
Upload an essay. Post a photo or video tribute. Or tell us in comments how a teacher made a difference.

My favorite teacher is Ms, Davenport. She inspired me to stay strong when it seemed like nobody else cared and she gave the best advice. She said "Stay strong and remember who you are in Christ". I couldn't have made it through my junior year without her.
