The YMCA Capital City Summer Basketball League has its first tip today at 5:30 p.m., with the Patch.com team taking on Peak Performance.
This is Patch's first year as a sponsor in the league. Leading our team from Iowa State University are Tyrus McGee, Georges Nian and Kerwin Okoro. Others on the team include Richard Carter (Drake); Brandon Eley (AIB); Mitch McLaughlin (Drake); Bill Freeman (Nebraska-Omaha); Gatlat Toang (Hoover); Matt Roling (Quincy); Scott Hahn (Quincy); and Nick Smith (Southwest Minnesota).
The Patchers are coached by the world-ranked Patch blogger, Derek Hannah.

The league, which has included the likes of Royce White of ISU and soon-to-be the NBA, includes players from Drake, ISU and area high schools.
Patch.com will be taking on the Peak Performance at Valley Southwoods High School.
The Peak Performance roster includes Bubu Palo (Iowa State); Jake Peterson (Clarke); Eric Austin (Dowling); David Mataloni (Coe); Kori Babineaux (Drake); Alex Dorr (University of Mary); Taylor Harville (Drake); Korey Lucious (Iowa State); Brent Heemskerk (ex-Drake); and Seth Light (Coe).
Two more games will be held after the opener.
The season continues Sunday evening with games at 4:30, 5:45 and 7 p.m.
