It was a fight all the way to finish for two Ankeny fitness spots.
In our first Readers’ Choice contest in which we asked you to choose your preferred place to workout in Ankeny, two clear favorites emerged as both repeatedly gained the lead in our poll.
But voting isn’t always the sole deciding factor in our contest, so in the spirit of good sportsmanship, we at Ankeny Patch decided to reward both of them.
For reaction from the owners or managers of each spot, look for an updated version of this story tomorrow on Ankeny Patch.
Accel Fitness received the most number of votes in our poll with 52 percent. As a result, the business will receive an award to recognize it as the best overall gym in Ankeny.
"Best gym experience at Accel Fitness! Tight-knit family atmosphere, where the trainers give you valuable information on obtaining your personal goals! I'm in the best shape of my life even after 3 kids. Accel Fitness has a unique crossfit experience you won't find anywhere else in the Des Moines metro area. With a variety of classes to choose from and experienced trainers, each day there's something new to push you to ACCEL!!!" - Sonya, via a comment on our poll.
But the loyalty of TGR fans shined through in the number of positive comments, reviews and ratings left for the business on Ankeny Patch. TGR received seven reviews on its listing in Patch Places, seven five-star ratings and eight positive comments on the poll itself.
As a result, TGR Fitness will receive an award honoring it as the best fitness spot for women.
"TGR Fitness is very focused on every one of thier clients. All the staff is knowledgeable, fun and all great instructors. Amber goes above and beyond for everyone and truly is a great person and knows fitness. They are all around amazing and a VERY fun place to workout whatever your needs are." - Deanna, via a comment on our poll.
Ready for our next Readers’ Choice contest? On Monday, we’ll kick off a poll spanning all central Iowa Patches in which you get to choose the best place in the metro to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The contest will run for one week.
Following the St. Patrick’s Day contest, we’ll be back in Ankeny and in the middle of March Madness. Remaining true to the spirit of the “season,” we’ll be asking you to choose your favorite sports bar in town.
