Romney Heads Back to Iowa Next Week As Speculation Over VP Announcement Swirls

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has plans for a private fundraiser at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines on Tuesday, and additional public events in Iowa.

Mitt Romney is planning another trip to Iowa, this time for a private fundraising event at a country club in West Des Moines.

The Des Moines Register is reporting, based on an invitation shared with the newspaper, that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will be at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines on Tuesday evening.

A campaign staffer told the paper that the former Massachusetts governor will also hold public events while he is in town.

Both Romney and President Barack Obama are spending time in Iowa, which is seen as a key battleground state for election 2012. Obama was in Cedar Rapids in July.

CNN reports that Romney is stopping in several swing states this week and next, including Colorado, Indiana, Nevada and Ohio.

Mitt Romney's presidential campaign is quietly laying the groundwork for a high-profile blitz of several key battleground states in the run-up to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and Republicans briefed on the plans say it has all the trappings of a vice presidential rollout tour.
