Sometimes a few extra words can go a long way.

After two weeks of voting, our readers have spoken when it comes to which local boutique deserves the nod of Ankeny’s best. With 585 votes, 15 positive comments, seven reviews and seven five-star ratings, Sarah’s Girly Boutique is the winner of Ankeny Patch’s third Readers’ Choice contest.

Owned by Sarah Allen, fans of Sarah’s Girly Boutique really stepped up and went the extra mile for their favorite boutique, which specializes in creating handmade accessories and select clothing items for little girls.

Here’s what one customer of Sarah’s Girly Boutique had to say:

When determining a winner, we award points based on two factors. The business with the highest number of votes gets 10 points, the business with the second highest gets 8. Then we look at reviews and comments. Again, the business with the highest number of reviews and comments gets 10 points, the business with the second highest gets 8.

This resulted in a tie as Barefoot Chic Boutique earned a total of 18 points for having the most amount of votes and the second-highest number of positive reviews and comments (Barefoot tied with The Funky Zebras in this category with four positive comments, so each received 8 points). Sarah’s Girly Boutique also earned 18 points for having the second-highest number of votes, but the highest number of positive reviews and comments.

The contest can’t end in a tie, so according to our official Readers’ Choice rules, the business with the highest amount of reviews and comments is declared the winner.

With that being said, we at Ankeny Patch believe the business with the highest amount of votes should still be recognized, so we’re giving an honorable mention to Barefoot Chic Boutique as a favorite shopping spot for local women.
