Relay For Life of Polk County is a family-friendly, free event at Ankeny's Northview Middle School (the old High School). Funds raised at Relay For Life support the American Cancer Society’s mission to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Highlights will include:
- Family-friendly activities like a bounce house, face painting, balloon animals, a rock climbing wall, and mini Olympics.
- Visits from mascots of the Des Moines Menace, Iowa Cubs, Iowa Energy, and Iowa Barnstormers. Iowa State University players will also make an appearance.
- More than 80 silent auction items will be up for grabs.
- Food and drink will be available with a free will donation.
- Special activities will take place for cancer survivors and caregivers.

With a staff of more than 100 employees, Northview Middle provides its students with a full curriculum and a wide range of extracurricular activities and sports. It belongs to Polk County's Ankeny Community School District.
