One Class, One Child, One Week

Local business sponsorships can clearly show the support of the vital role that the arts and culture has in the Ankeny community.

The Ankeny Art Center is asking local area businesses to help provide sponsorships for Summer Art Camps in 2014. The invitation is also extended to our individual Ankeny Art Center members. Our camp scholarships are for K-12 students with financial need and show high potential as well as excellence in the visual arts. We strongly believe that giving children as many opportunities to learn through the arts is essential.

Research shows that an education rich in the arts is closely linked to academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and respect for others. Likewise, by sponsoring Summer Art Camps at the Ankeny Art Center in 2014 you will be helping support the vital role of the arts and culture in our community. By simply sponsoring one K-12 child for a class, you can make a huge difference in that child’s life! Our week-long art camps are tailored to a wide range of age groups and feature different art activities that provide K-12 students with hands-on experience in a variety of materials.

In addition to learning art techniques, our classes provide opportunities for students to improve interpersonal, problem-solving, and team- related skills. Summer Art Camp at the Ankeny Art Center is a truly fun and dynamic summer experience for children that will spark creativity, engagement, exploration and individual expression. Specific camps include Art Exploration Camp, Drawing Camp, Pottery Hand-building Camp and Pottery Wheel Camp. Classes start on June 11 and run weekly through July 19.
