Ankeny Native Named New KCCI Television Anchor

Elizabeth Klinge will join "KCCI 8 News This Morning." She will begin anchoring with Steve Karlin and meteorologist Kurtis Gertz the week of August 19, KCCI reports.

An Ankeny native has been named the new co-anchor of the KCCI morning news program. 

Elizabeth Klinge will join "KCCI 8 News This Morning." She will begin anchoring with Steve Karlin and meteorologist Kurtis Gertz the week of August 19, KCCI reports. She replaces Katie Ward, who left in June to stay home with her family. 

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with the talented team at KCCI," Klinge said, according to KCCI. "I know staying well-informed is a priority for Iowans, and I'm looking forward to helping them start their day."

Klinge graduated from Ankeny High School and later earned a journalism degree from University of Iowa. Before joined KCCI, Klinge worked as a reporter and anchor for WHO-TV from 2005-11. 

Klinge has a journalism degree from the University of Iowa and received an award from the Iowa Broadcast News Association for her outstanding reports on agribusiness. She was a reporter and anchor at WHO-TV from 2005-2011.

The Des Moines Register reports that  Cityview magazine readers voted Klinge “Best Looking Female Media Personality” while she was at WHO.
