Inaugural Ankeny Chamber Chill 5K Drew Hundreds of Participants to DMACC Campus

The event was held on March 2, and the Chamber is already planning to reprise the event in 2014.

The Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its inaugural 2013 Chamber Chill 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, March 2, on the Des Moines Area Community College campus in Ankeny.

The race had 250 participants and over 30 volunteers. Twenty-two local Chamber members sponsored the event including Presenting Sponsor, John Deere Des Moines Works and Snowflake Sponsors, A+ Lawn and Landscape, Monsanto Company, and Des Moines Area Community College. The event concluded with a Thaw Out After Party hosted by Wig & Pen Pizza Pub.

“We were pleased with the turnout for this first year event,” said Amanda Petersen, committee chair and Chamber board member. “The Chamber Chill event is an objective of the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce’s mission statement, and that is to enhance the quality of life in the Ankeny area.”

The Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce is making plans for the 2014 event and is grateful for the support from the community and their membership.

“We had an overwhelming response from our Chamber members to sponsor, volunteer, and participate this year. We are proud to be able to host an event that benefits the people who live, work, and play in the community of Ankeny,” said Hilary Dunn, events coordinator at the Chamber.
