Approximately 150 dogs and their people attended the Ankeny Dog Park’s Open House (June 9).
Local residents and guests from surrounding communities enjoyed Ankeny’s 7.5-acre off-leash Park and its amenities – especially the fenced pond and sandy beach!
More than 300 photos were captured by volunteer photographers, some of which will be included in a new 2013 Ankeny Dog Park calendar!
While the event was free, more than $300 in donations was collected from nail trims by Pawsitively Pampered and refreshments by Hawgeyes BBQ. Funds raised will be put towards capital improvements, such as the walking path to be added this summer.
Visitors also had a chance to meet representatives and adoptables from the Animal Rescue League, AHeinz57, Iowa Weimaraner Rescue and Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue.
The Ankeny Dog Park Task Force thanks its members, volunteers, sponsors, donors and guests for supporting the Dog Park.
