Photographers Get Extra Days to Load Photos to Our Readers' Choice Feature — and Voters Can Keep Voting

Our Readers' Choice poll for best West Des Moines photographer has been extended until 5 p.m. Sunday. So photographers, please offer up a few samples for potential customers to see.

West Des Moines photographers have two more days to upload their photos to capture votes — and pique the interest of potential customers — in our Readers' Choice contest.

Last week we had one of those pesky bugs in our system that made it difficult for photographers to upload their photos for the first time. The bug, we're happy to report, has been squashed.

Now, with that bit of evil dead, we've decided to let Readers' Choice for best photographer live a couple of days longer than we'd planned, providing the opportunity for photographers to upload their photos and voters to vote for their favorites.

The new deadline for uploads and for voting will be 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29.

Welcome to Patch and thanks for taking part in our Readers’ Choice poll. Like us on Facebook. Follow us on Twitter. Have West Des Moines news delivered to your inbox every morning by signing up for our newsletter.

The winner will be announced Monday morning.

The winner will be determined by a formula that includes votes in the poll, comments (below) and reviews on the photographer’s business listing. Complete rules and regulations are attached in a PDF file.

Now that you’ve voted in the Readers’ Choice poll, click on the links below to write a review on your favorite's business listing:

Are you a photographer? Upload your photos here.

These types of contests are merely popularity contests, with the winner always being whoever posts the most annoying "Vote For ME" bulletins on social networking sites. Invariably the 'winner' is simply the one with the most free time for such shenanigans, and usually the least qualified to win. Why not have a real contest, decided by a juried panel of professionals?

Bill: Thanks for the comment. I think you have a good idea. Feel free to send me some details -- or post them here -- about how it might work, and we'll be glad to take a look at it. A summer photo contest might work. In the meantime, with proms and weddings upon us, we thought this would be a good way to showcase all the talent out there, so feel free to upload any photos you'd like. The best part of our contest is...Nobody loses.
