Ankeny Police Find Report of 'Crazy' Kids Actually Adults Celebrating Ankeny Hawks Win

Charges filed range from OWI to domestic abuse.

Sept. 7

A woman called from her car, parked at her house in the 1200 block of Southeast Village View Lane, to ask that a police officer come check out the house. She started to enter, only to find fresh blood on the inside of the door. An officer checked and determined the blood and fresh scratch marks on the door came from the family dog.

A resident reported their car was broken into while they were shopping at Hy-Vee. Items taken included a watch, day planner, sunglasses and $600 cash.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Northeast Bel Aire Road on a report of "kids running around, yelling/screaming, causing problems, being crazy," according to the police log. Turns out it was adults celebrating the Ankeny High School football win.

Sept. 8

A representative of the Ankeny Art Center, 1520 S.W. Ordnance Road, reported that someone shot at the building's north door overnight, damaging the glass. They asked that police keep an extra watch on the center and kids skateboarding in the area.
