Sixteen-Year-Old Facing OWI Charge After Hit and Run: Ankeny Police Blotter

Sixteen-year-old facing OWI charge after hit and run

A 16-year old juvenile was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic incident that occurred in the 500 block of Southwest Des Moines Street.

According to police reports, an officer was called to the area for a hit and run at approximately 10:44 p.m. on March 16. A neighbor reported that a truck had struck the caller's vehicle before leaving the scene.

The juvenile suspect was later found near the intersection of Southwest Third and Walnut streets, reports said. A field sobriety test was administered, and the juvenile was arrested for allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Michael J. Corlett, 30, Ankeny, was charged with disorderly conduct following an incident that occurred at 1024 E. First St.

Tyshay B. Morton, 35, Ankeny, was arrested on an outstanding warrant following an incident that occurred near the intersection of West First Street and Northwest Cedarwood Drive.

Matthew W. Web, 18, Ankeny, was charged with operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent following a traffic stop that occurred in the 400 block of Northeast Oak Drive.

March 17

Erin J. Claussen, 20, Anita, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (second offense), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop that occurred in the 400 block of Southwest Walnut Street.

Steven E. Hunt, 48, Altoona, was charged with public intoxication following an incident that occurred near the intersection of South Ankeny Boulevard and Southeast Oralabor Road.

Ramon E. Scarpino, 46, Des Moines, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (second offense), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop that occurred on northbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 92.

March 18

Douglas R. Blount, 30, Des Moines, was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop that occurred in the 200 block of Southeast Oralabor Road.

Christina B. Mahama, 48, Ankeny, was charged with domestic abuse assault - simple following an incident that occurred in the 700 block of Northeast 41st Court.

Birja M. Rai, 25, Des Moines, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop that occurred near the intersection of Northwest 15th Street and Irvinedale Drive.
