Ankeny Will Not Pick Up Downed Tree Branches from Blizzard

City crews said tree damage is relatively light, so workers will not pick up downed branches. Residents can have them taken away by a private hauler or hold onto them until a day in April when the city will accept downed tree limbs.

Ankeny crews will not pick up branches downed by last week's blizzard, according to the city's website.

Following the storm, the Public Works Department performed an estimate of the tree and branch damage and determined it to be relatively light and isolated, the website said.

City crews will help remove branches downed in the right-of-way. However, residents who have yard debris on private property will need to consult with their garbage hauler or local tree service for removal.

If residents choose to store the debris on their property, the city will have a tree and branch recycling day in April so residents can dispose of branches at the Public Works Maintenance Facility.

To be notified in advance of tree and branch recycling day, sign up for the e-Notify Mailing List and select Event Calendar > Recycling & Cleanup.
