Ankeny All-City Play Day is Wednesday

Whether up in the air or down on the ground, there is something for everyone when Ankeny hosts the 5th Annual "Ankeny All City Play Day" on Wednesday, July 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Wagner Parks will be transformed into playful hubs of fun with a mix of activity stations for play-minded people of any age. Admission is FREE and no registration is necessary.

"Last year over 1500 kids, teenagers, parents and grandparents came to Play Day, making it one of the most successful events of the year," said Todd Redenius, Ankeny Parks and Recreation Director. "Play Day is specifically designed to promote 'free and unstructured' play and to showcase what Ankeny parks have to offer all year around."

Learn how to canoe on Hawkeye Pond or try your hand at tennis and pickleball. Then reveal your artistic side by chalking the sidewalk with colorful displays and creative designs. Team up with an Ankeny firefighter for water fights. Other play stations include: games, yoga, big wheel races, Bricks For Kids and a building workshop for kids. Seniors can enjoy Bingo at the Lakeside Center.

Wagner Park and Hawkeye Park are located just off of First Street at the corner of West First Street and SW Ash Drive in Ankeny. Parking for this event will be available at the Park & Ride lot off of NW Ash Drive, the Lakeside Center in Hawkeye Park, the west lot of Hawkeye Park and the west lot of Parkview Middle School.
