The Ankeny Public Works Department is responsible for providing a safe, clean, and attractive public transportation network. This is accomplished through comprehensive annual programs that include:

• Roadway construction and maintenance
• storm water drainage
• street cleaning
• traffic control
• street signage
• right-of-way maintenance
• street tree planting
• snow and ice control
• street maintenance
• recycling

The division administers construction projects throughout the city to improve and maintain Ankeny’s infrastructure and provides various other services related to the operation and repair of the infrastructure.

Public Works provides proactive and reactive responses to streets, storm drainage, and traffic control maintenance. The large scale operations are conducted through major construction or reconstruction projects, whereas the majority of our services are scheduled maintenance activities and others that are reactive in nature. If you observe a problem, we encourage you to please report it to our office and we’ll correct it in a timely manner.

This location also houses the utilities/water department operations facility.  Residents, contractors and developers can purchase bulk water and pick up water meters at this location.
