From Ankeny Community School District: On May 19 at 5:30 p.m., the 100th graduating class of Ankeny High School walked across the stage at the Drake Knapp Center in Des Moines and completed their high school careers. Seniors Kelsey Arneson, Cody Bock, Austin Heinzerling and Adam Hudson addressed the 491 members of their class. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bruce Kimpston and School Board President Pat Cahill also spoke to the graduates. See a full list of 2013 Ankeny graduates. Teams from Ankeny High School took second and third place in a University of Iowa Chinese Language competition
From A MEDIA RELEASE Ankeny High School Chinese students participating in the High School Chinese Language Speaking Competition at the University of Iowa won second and third place in the May 4 competition, according to a release from the school district. Ankeny High was one of seven schools competing in the competition. Students from Ankeny's Northview Middle School also participated. Richelle Manuel, Chad Schultz, Brett Bolte, comprised one team and Samantha Hoff and Samuel Primmer comprised the other. Everything you need to know to attend Sunday's ceremony for Ankeny High School graduates.
Another school year has come and gone, and the time is here to wish a new class of graduates good luck as their high school years come to an end. Ankeny High School will hold its commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19. Here's what you need to know: When: May 19, 5:30-8 p.m. Where: Drake University's Knapp Center, 2601 Forest Ave., Des Moines. Parking: Ample free parking is available around campus, but you might want to arrive early if you want to avoid walking long distances. Also, the senior breakfast and slide show will be held May 16 from 8-9 a.m. in the Ankeny High School lunchroom. Commencement rehearsal will immediately follow in the gym. Meals from the Heartland led Ankeny Prairie Trail Elementary students, staff, and more than thirty parent and community volunteers, in a three-hour event packaging nutritious meals.
From an Ankeny school district media release: On Friday, May 3, Hunger Fight Manager Joel O’Dell from Meals from the Heartland led Prairie Trail Elementary students, staff, and more than thirty parent and community volunteers, in a three-hour event packaging nutritious meals. More than 13,760 meals were packaged to be delivered to people in need all over the world. In early April, first and fourth grade students at Prairie Trail had the opportunity to put into action the good citizenship they have been learning in their literacy classes. Students chose to help fight hunger by packaging meals for delivery to starving people around the world through the non-profit organization, Meals from the Heartland. Ankeny School District announces new song for new high school.
The Ankeny Community School District released the lyrics to the new Centennial High School's fight song Wednesday. Hear it above by clicking play. The song was created by alumni, students and a teacher, according to a press release from the school district. Lester Miller the future director of vocal music for Ankeny Centennial High School arranged lyrics compiled from four student contest submissions. Stephens Auditorium in Ames. Fullmer, a 2000 graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in food science and human nutrition, has over 20 years of experience in the vitamin and dietary supplement and food industries. For its rankings, Newsweek sent out a survey to more than 5,000 high schools in the U.S., with about 2,500 schools responding in 2013.
