Ankeny Police celebrate police week with guided tours of department.

Each tour is expected to last about 30 minutes. There will also be a display of police vehicles and officers will be present to answer questions, according to a release from the city. The week of May 12-18 has been designated as National Police Week across the country. And on Friday three police officers who lost their lives while on duty were honored and had their names added to the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial. An Ankeny man was sentenced to 50 years in prison Wednesday for stabbing his former girlfriend while their three young children were at home. Michael Stewart was sentenced in a Polk County courtroom Wednesday morning on charges of attempted murder, third-degree sexual abuse, willful injury and going armed with intent, according to KCCI.com. Ankeny police said Nicole Ague was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, Michael Stewart, who stabbed her multiple times, including once in the neck, in October of 2011.
