Dennis Albaugh's classic car collection will be on display Thursday night to help benefit the Ankeny Service Center, according to the Des Moines Register. Cruisin' For Cash will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Albaugh Inc., 1525 N.E. 36th St. in Ankeny. Tickets are $35. Albaugh once told Ankeny Patch he receives many requests from the public each year to see his personal collection of more than 145 classic Chevrolets. He holds the Albaugh Classic Car Show every other year at Albaugh Inc., which draws classic car enthusiasts from around the country. Dennis Albaugh receives many requests from the public each year to see his personal collection of more than 145 classic Chevrolets. A few years ago, Albaugh – owner of Albaugh, Inc. in Ankeny – decided to host a car show with all proceeds going to the Ankeny Community School District. It was then the Albaugh Classic car show was created. “I went to school in Ankeny, my kids went to school here and so do my grandkids,” Albaugh said. “To me, there’s no better cause out there.” The Albaugh Classic car show was held Saturday at Albaugh, Inc. Despite a rainy morning, an estimated 3,000 spectators attended the show to see Albaugh’s collection and more than 300 additional classic cars registered for the event. Despite a rainy start to the day, thousands of people Saturday still attended the Albaugh Classic car show in Ankeny.
It was a wet and soggy day for a car show, but that didn’t stop thousands of spectators from venturing out to see hundreds of the area’s classic cars. The third annual Albaugh Classic car show, which originally started in 2008, was held Saturday at Albaugh, Inc. in Ankeny. People trekked through the mud and rain to see 320 classic cars of all makes and models. Others came for the opportunity to see Dennis Albaugh’s personal collection of more than 145 classic Chevrolets. The show was sponsored by Karl Chevrolet of Ankeny. The third annual Albaugh Classic Car Show, which is held as a fundraiser for the Ankeny Schools Activities Department, will be held on Saturday.
If you’re a classic car enthusiast, Ankeny is the place to be this weekend. For its third year, the Dennis Albaugh Classic Car Show will bring hundreds of classic cars ranging from a 1912 Little to a 1975 Corvette to Ankeny on Saturday, July 23. The event is held as a fundraiser for the Ankeny Schools Activities Department. “The last time we held (the car show) we raised almost $45,000,” said Randy Munson of Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, the main sponsor of the show. “This is just another example of businesses and organizations working together for the common good. “It gives us a chance to raise money and give it back to the community.
