PHOTOS: Uptown Ankeny Celebrates the Season With Trick-or-Treating

The Ankeny shopping district held its annual event, which brought out costumed kids galore.

Uptown Ankeny was full of foot traffic Thursday evening. The historic retail area had plenty of spooky characters, pirates, princesses, superheroes and more wandering about, as the Uptown Ankeny Association hosted its annual trick-or-treating event from 5 to 7 p.m. Treats were available for kids at participating businesses in the area, signified by lit pumpkins in the business windows. Storytelling was presented by the Ankeny Area Historical Society from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Jamison Studios offered free pictures of children in costume. The evening appeared to prove successful.
