Police: Men Rob Casey's With Pellet Gun

Two Ankeny men were arrested early Monday after trying to rob a Casey's General Store with a pellet gun, according to a release from the Ankeny Police Department.

Seth N. Clark, 21, of NW Beechwood St., and Tanner K. Sellers, 19, of NW Sturbridge St., were charged with first-degree robbery a Class B felony, punishable by 25 years in prison.

Clark demanded money from the store clerk while holding a gun at about 4:30 a.m, according to the release. The clerk refused and Clark left the store and got into a car driven by Sellers, the release said.

Ankeny Police spotted the car in a residential neighborhood and stopped the men at the intersection of Northwest Greenwood and Northwest Third Streets in Ankeny. The men were detained when police noticed that the men's descriptions matched those provided by the clerk, the release said.

The handgun, determined to be a pellet gun, believed to be used in the robbery attempt, was found across the street from Casey's in the backyard of a residence, the release said.

Clark and Sellers were in the Polk County Jail Monday and were both being held on a $25,000 bond.
