Police: Employee Steals $10,000 from Ankeny Walmart

A Des Moines woman is accused of swiping at least $10,000 in cash from the Ankeny Walmart, police said.

A 35-year-old Des Moines woman is accused of stealing at least $10,000 from the Ankeny Walmart where she worked for the past six years, Ankeny police said.

Metheeny Saychareun, 35, is accused of stealing cash from the store through fraudulent transactions and taking cash from storage areas during the course of her employment, police said.

Saychareun was charged with first-degree theft, a Class C felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Saychareun was arrested on the charge on July 12 and released from Polk County Jail that same day, according to jail records.Β 

Saychareun has entered a plea of not guilty. She is expected to be arraigned on the charge at an Aug. 26 court hearing.
