PHOTO GALLERY: Iowa State Fair Parade 2011

More than 200 floats, animals, vehicles, novelty and performing units from dozens of communities formed the Iowa State Fair parade.

More than 200 floats, animals, vehicles, novelty and performing units formed this year's Iowa State Fair parade.

The annual parade kicks off the Fair as it marks 100 years of the Butter Cow. Butter sculptor Sarah Pratt led as parade marshal. This is Pratt's sixth year of sculpting solo, but she spent many years crafting butter bovines under former sculptor Norma "Duffy" Lyon.

Lyon, affectionately known as the "Butter Cow Lady," passed away in June but had planned on joining Pratt as co-parade marshal. In honor of Lyon, a car with a display of yellow roses joined the parade. Lyon was parade marshal in 1997.
