Ankeny and Des Moines Metro Events, When and Where: Santa's North Pole Village, ‘STOMP’, Chicago, Kathy Griffin, Kenny Rogers

Plan ahead for this weekend using this guide to times, dates and ticket info for events going on in Ankeny and the Des Moines metro the weekend of Nov. 2.

There’s plenty to do in Ankeny in the days ahead, and if you want to travel into to Des Moines and around the metro, there’s plenty to do there, too.

31st Annual Santa's North Pole Village Craft Show

One of the most popular craft shows in Iowa features hand-crafted items such as jewelry, furniture, clothing and holiday decor. About 300 crafters and vendors in attendance at this event, from fine art crafters to jewelry, candle makers and more. 

The event will be held at Northview, Parkview and Prairie Ridge middle schools, and admission to the event is $5. Local organizations will provide meals and drinks and a shuttle will take you from location to location all day for only a dollar.

Leaf Collection Days

Leaf Collection Days will continue this weekend and will run through Sunday, November 18. The designated site for leaf collection is the Prairie Ridge Family Aquatic Center, located at 1220 N.W. Prairie Ridge Dr.

City crews will assist residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Leaves collected in yard waste bags are permitted, and may be disposed in the containers provided. Plastic bags and other containers shall be removed by the resident following leaf disposal.

METRO

“Evil Dead: The Musical”: Based on the ‘80s cult classic films, this show unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into demons, boy fights until dawn to survive.

Iowa Artists 2012 Print: An exhibition of recent print-based work by artists living and working in Iowa. The exhibition will be on view in the Print Gallery and Blank One Gallery.

“STOMP”: The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with rhythm.
