  • Kirkendall Public Library will hold its Reading Buddies program today at 3:15 p.m. Reading Buddies is for kids in kindergarten through second grade.

Tuesday

  • The Ankeny Art Center will debut its third and final exhibit in its K-12 Art Exhibition at 9 a.m. today with works of art by students from the . The exhibit will run through April 28. Bondurant, North Polk, and Ankeny Schools are all participating in the exhibition. The Ankeny Art Center’s K-12 exhibits are part of the facility's extended outreach programming, intended to introduce and familiarize students with the gallery setting.
  • Are you a DMACC student with some health concerns? If so, nurse practitioner Ed Piasecki will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the Campus Health Office to see currently enrolled DMACC students for free to address their health concerns and needs. Appointments are needed for physicals and some fees may apply. Call 515-964-6352 to make an appointment.
  • Iowa Workforce Development will present an on Tuesday. Debbie Mascaro from Iowa Workforce Development will provide hands-on personal assistance to create a professional resume. There is no charge for this workshop. Pre-registration is requested by calling the at 515-965-6460, ext. 5.

  • will host the first-ever called “Life After Military Service: Achieve Your Education & Career Goals” on Wednesday on the DMACC Ankeny Campus. The day-long workshop brings together experts and unique resources to help Veterans achieve their career goals. The retreat begins at 8 a.m. and is free to attend, but pre-registration is required.
  • Going through a divorce? will offer a at 5 p.m. Wednesday. These classes are designed to help minimize the negative impact of divorce on children and educate parents about the needs of children whose parents are divorcing. Call Jim Thorpe 515-289-9136 to register. Cost of the class is $35.
  • The is offering a workshop called "" with content specifically geared for local homeowners and gardeners. It will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at the located at 220 W. First St. from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The course is free, but reservations are requested.

Thursday

  • will hold an computer class at 10 a.m. Participants will learn how to set up a free Internet email account, send, forward, and receive email, add and open attachments and create an address book. Registration is required, so see if there are spots left by calling the library at 515-965-6460.
  • On Thursday morning, take the little ones to Tot Time at the . Tot Time is a time set aside for kids and moms/caregivers to gather, play and get to know one another.  Tot Time is held in the library meeting room and begins at 10:15 a.m.
  • Are you a member of the Uptown Ankeny Association? The group will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at 12 p.m. at the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce office.
  • Kids can attend at the Ankeny library today starting at 4 p.m. The TNT program consist of board games, duct tape crafts and a snack.  Students ages sixth grade and up are welcome.
  • Although the Ankeny Schools K-12 Exhibit officially began Tuesday, the official will be held at the Ankeny Art Center from 5-7 p.m. tonight. The reception is free and open to the public.
  • Take the family to a movie tonight at the . Starting at 6 p.m., the library will be showing "Hop," an animated tale about Fred, an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny and must take him in as he recovers.

DMACC accounting students who have been certified by the Internal Revenue Service will help prepare federal and Iowa individual income tax returns for qualified residents.
