  • Take the kids to Kirkendall Public Library Monday for. Have fun with LEGOs and learn while you're doing it! The session begins at 3:15 p.m.
  • The Ankeny City Council will hold at 5 p.m. at . Agenda items include possible renovations to City Hall.
  • You may see some familiar faces Monday night if you go out to dinner at in Ankeny. The Ankeny Kiwanis Club and the Ankeny High School Key Club in bussing tables, keeping the buffet line stocked and cleaning.  In return, HuHot will donate 10 percent of the proceeds earned between 5-8 p.m. to both clubs.
  • The Monday night at Kirkendall Public Library. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.
  • All this week, Ankeny Schools will be holding the in the media center of Prairie Ridge Middle School. We suggest seizing this opportunity to add some new titles to your child's library.
  • Iowa Workforce Development will present an on Tuesday. Debbie Mascaro from Iowa Workforce Development will provide hands-on personal assistance to create a professional resume. There is no charge for this workshop. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Kirkendall Public Library at 515-965-6460, ext. 5.
  • Kindergarten through second grade students can go to the Tuesday for a little . The session starts at 3:15 p.m.
  • Do you have a sixth or seventh grader at Prairie Ridge or Parkview Middle School? If so, are Tuesday and Thursday night. Conferences start at 4:30 p.m.
  • The Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce will host its on Wednesday at the Pinnacle Club at . Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch to follow at 11:45. The cost to attend is $20.
  • A special program called "" will be held Wednesday at . Sessions will be held at 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. This series is designed to enhance the current season of the Des Moines Symphony Spirit of America. The program is led by Joan Jamison and will feature a different American composer each month. A short DVD will provide biographical information. Major works by the composer also will be presented and discussed.
  • Take the kids to story time at the Wednesday, held each morning during the week beginning at 9:15 a.m. Online pre-registration is required. Visit our events calendar for a full list of days and times, as well as find out how to register.
  • Did you take the Microsoft Word for Beginners class at earlier this month? If so, the library is offering an on Thursday at 2 p.m. Participants in this class will learn to insert pictures, text boxes and columns to create brochures and posters.
  • On Thursday morning, take the little ones to Tot Time at the . Tot Time is a time set aside for kids and moms/caregivers to gather, play and get to know one another.  Tot Time is held in the library meeting room and begins at 10:15 a.m.
  • On Friday night, attend the premiere of ." Performances will be held each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 16. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances at 2 p.m. Shows will be held at the theater, located at 1932 S.W. 3rd St.
  • Take a road trip to Drake University Friday night to watch the take on Dowling Catholic. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
  • On Sunday, head to the Ankeny Area Historical Society for its monthly open house from 2-4 p.m. .
